Boardwalk Decking
Composite Decking is durable, requires less maintenance, and is environmentally friendly. With a look and feel of natural timber decking composite decking is fast becoming a popular choice for Perth homeowners. This type of decking is made of a mixture of wood fibres, plastic and other binding agents combined to become a stronger, denser and heavier wood-like product. Composite decking does not require resurfacing and resealing as regular timber does, therefore making it worth the investment.
Jarrah Decking is locally grown in the southwest of Western Australia and is known for its strength and durability. It is a great choice for outdoors as it is resistant to fungi, termites and rotting. Its unique colour is red-brown and can deepen to a burgundy colour over the course of its lifespan. It is dense and has an interlocking grain and accepts oils and stains well. Although slightly more expensive than other decking materials, it can be worth it for its beautiful finish and durability.
Merbau Decking is a richly coloured type of hardwood and is commonly used for decking around patios, pools and other outdoor structures. This type of timber is a great choice as it does not catch on fire easily and its boards are great for their low shrinkage and expansion rates. With its red-brown hue and grainy pattern, it is aesthetically pleasing as well as being incredibly durable.
Spotted Gum Decking is a very popular Australian hardwood. It is strong and durable and colours can range from pale brown, red-brown or dark chocolate brown. Depending on where it is grown it can be of a very light colour if cut down in its earlier stages. It has a moderately coarse texture and a wavy grain. This type of decking is regularly used indoors and outdoors and is naturally termite resistant.
